I am not a Democrat, I am not a Republican! I am caught somewhere in the middle. Since the inauguration of Donald Trump, I have noticed a lot of rioting proclaiming that Donald Trump is anti-immigrant!

All our forefathers were immigrants at one point or another, whether legal or illegal. Some have become citizens with lots of hard work and perseverance! This is not what I am perplexed about!

What stuns me is that someone is playing upon the, seeming, ignorance of immigrants causing them to do things that they would not otherwise do. The word ‘ignorance’ as defined in any dictionary is: Not having been made aware of a situation or thing! Stupidity is: refusing to be enlightened about a situation or thing!

Today, Mayday, was used by many to protest the fact that Donald Trump is anti-immigrant. If this is the case, then Trump is even against his own family, especially his wife, Melanie, who is an immigrant from Novo Mesto, Slovenia and a naturalized citizen of the United States of America. We can rest assured that Melanie is NOT anti-immigrant! After having modeled for several major magazines in the United States, she applied as a model of “extraordinary ability” and soon after obtained a green card becoming a lawful permanent resident in 2001. She gained United States citizenship in 2006. You may agree or disagree with her entrance, but enter she did!

Trump’s first executive order, regarding immigration, said in essence; "Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate." I did not see any threat to legal immigration in this proclamation! Nowhere in this proclamation did it mention that any immigrant who has legal status, or even illegal status who are law abiding, need be concerned by this document! Far left media sources have a way of making ‘a mountain out of a molehill’ in order to sell magazine, newspaper, and television articles. If these journalists have the poor immigrant’s welfare in mind when they write this, why are they scaring the daylights out of them for the sake of filthy lucre? It appears that Trump’s order was to delay immigration from several countries that had sided with ISIS policies and was a carryover from Trump’s predecessor, Barack Obama! It seems that both presidents had the welfare of those residing in the United States in mind, whether legal or illegal!

On Monday, March 6, 2017 Trump signed another executive order regarding immigration to replace the first one being stalled by the court systems of the U.S. This order suspended immigration from six predominantly Muslim countries; Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, and Libya. Iraq was not included as the government of Iraq assured the U.S. they would share information with the U.S. in regards to anti-U.S. groups in the surrounding area. Citizens from the six affected countries would be subjected to a 90-day ban on travel to the United States. The order, which would go into effect on March 16, did not revoke existing visas approved before the date and does not explicitly apply to current lawful permanent residents and green card holders. This order was also challenged by higher courts of the U.S.

Nowhere in the second executive order did there appear a threat to those legally or illegally present in the U.S. As a result, someone is keeping the pot boiling to keep uninformed immigrants stirred up. It has been said, “Keep people confused and you will be able to control those people. There is mass confusion as to what is legal and what is not legal. There is mass confusion as to what has been written by our present U.S. government. I would advise everyone to read the policies of the executive orders, or have them read in your language, before going out on the street and subjecting yourselves to police batons, possible death, or possible incarceration as, well as, deportation. It has also been clear that the U.S. Government’s enforcement priorities are about “criminal aliens, not grade school students.”

I write this to try and reassure my many immigrant friends and acquaintances. As the mess settles in D.C., things will become clearer. Then we will know for sure who is in danger and who is not in danger. As stated before, “Why should one cry before you are injured!”
